physical and microscopic and macroscopic
properties of a gas
I think you know about
the gas what is gas? So gas is the forth physical state of mater. The pure gas
is made of same atoms for example noble gas like neon argon etc. and so many
there are in the periodic table and compound molecule made from many atoms for
example carbon dioxide etc.
Today my topic is about
one of the danger and useful and invisible thing which is called gas. So gas the fourth
fundamental state of mater. Today we will discuss the physical property
macroscopic and microscopic property of a gas.so let’s get started.
GAS history: in 17th
century jan Baptist van helmont use first time the word Geist an alternative story
is that Van Helmont's word is corrupted from gahst (or geist), signifying a
ghost or spirit. This was because certain gases suggested a supernatural
origin, such as from their ability to cause death. Some gas is dangerous which
cause death. At that time of people don’t know about it and then the word geist
converted to gas.
Physical properties of gas: the physical properties of gas are the
number one is pressure.
Pressure is the amount of force applied perpendicular to the
surface of an object per unit area.
For example, there are some gas in
this cooker and the gas molecule will collide with each other and release the
gas to find the pressure. The symbol for it is p or P. the SI unit of pressure
is Pascal (Pa), equal to one newton per square meter (N/m2).
Volume: not a
speaker volume it is an amount of substance. The amount of gas The volume of gas
increases proportionally to absolute temperature and decreases inversely proportionally to pressure, approximately
according to the ideal gas law:
V=nRT/p
where:
·
p is the pressure
·
V is the volume
·
n is the amount of substance of gas (moles)
·
R is the gas constant, 8.314 J·K−1mol−1
·
T is the absolute temperature
·
The
si unit is meter cube
Temperature: SI units is kelvins. temperature also one the physical
property of gas which we can observe. Temperature also effect on gas If the
temperature increases the volume of gas increase.
Number of particles:
. These four characteristics were
repeatedly observed by scientists such as Robert Boyle, Jacques Charles, John
Dalton, Joseph Gay-Lussac and Amedeo Avogadro for a variety of gases in various
settings. If you want to know about these laws link in the discerption.
MACROSCOPIC PROPERTIES OF GAS: if you find the microscopic property
of a gas first of all you mast know about the pressure of a gas.
For example, this is the specific
container and and this is the frame of references for example gas container and
next is length of time how much time they take.
TEMPRATURE: the speed of gas is proportional to absolute
temperature.
VOLUME: that property that represent the amount of gas.
DENSITY: the amount of mas per unit volume of a
substance.
Two properties extensive and
intensive properties
Extensive properties which depends
on the amount of gas.
Intensive property which does not
depends of amount of substance.
MICROSCOPIC PROPERTIES OF GAS: the microscopic properties of gas
which are interrelated to the macroscopic properties.
Motion of gas: we cannot see the motion of gas but one the model is
Brownian motion zigzag motion. Model are describing in the description.
Intermolecular forces: the forces which exist between gas
molecules. For example this is the force between h2o molecule. There are many
forces like van der wall forces debaye forces etc.
We will make a video on all these
forces.
